The Breaks District has many Cub Scouting events throughout the year.
January --Cub Scouts has their weekly Den and Pack meetings.
February--Cub Scouts have their weekly meetings and they may visit the Boy Scout Klondike Derby and continuous campfire sechudled on the first weekend in February. This event is followed by Scout Week starting with Scout Sunday being the first Sunday in February and followed by Scouting Anniversary Day on February 8, and ends on the following Saturday. Some Packs enjoy their Pack's Blue and Gold Banquet.
Event Discription: Boy Scout Klondike Derby an event in which the Troops pull a home made sled to different events set up for the day and keep a fire burning through the scheduled weekend. Pack's Blue and Gold Banquet this is a birthday celebration in honor of the Scout's founder--Lord Baton Powel.
March--Weekly meetings and EXPO kickoff, selling of Expo tickets to earn money for your Pack. They can enjoy a day at Bristol Motor Speedway watching a Busch Race.
April--Weekly meetings and on Saturday in late March or early April they get to enjoy racing in the Pinewood Derby.
Event Discription: Pinewood Derby is a District wide event where a boy makes his own car to race from a Pinewood Derby kit and competes against his own pack as well as other Packs. The top three finishers in the Pack receives a medal and the three top overall winners receives a trophy.
May--Weekly meetings and the first Saturday in May the Cub Scouts may enjoy a day at the EXPO located in the Gray, TN at the Fair Grounds where they can enjoy doing scouting activities. Also Cub Scout campout is usuallly scheduled around the third week of the month.
Events Discription: The Expo at Gray, TN is where Scouts from the Sequoyah Council display different activities for the scouts to enjoy. Cub Scout Campout is when the cub Scouts and their family camp out over night and participate in games for awards on Saturday.
June-- Day Camp for Breaks District is the week of June right after school ends and that is usually the third week of June. Packs also may meet once this month for Summertime Pack Award. In June there is Family Fun with Son at Camp Davy Crockett
Events Discription: Day Camp is usually in the evening from 5:30 PM - 9 PM, and Cub Scouts can enjoy games, crafts, archery and BB Shooting for belt loops and credit toward their new rank. Fun with Son is where parents take their son to Camp Davy Crockett near Rogersville, TN and spend the weekend camping out and doing other activities. There is a fee for this camping event.
July--Cub Scout Packs may have one meeting for the Summertime Pack Award. Also Family Fun with Son weekend is in July and Webelos Resident Camp at Camp Davy Crockett.
Events Discription: Summertime Pack Meetings is where all the Pack meets once that month and enjoy activities and earn a Pin to wear on their uniform and may also earn belt loops and credit toward their rank as well as other patches. Webelos Camp also at Camp Davy Crockett and their is a fee for this weekend campout and it is for Webelos only.
August--After school starts a school night is set up for each pack in the District. This is a good time to register your son for Cub Scouts. All registered scouts may purchase tickets to a Truck race or Bush race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
September--Regular weekly meetings get under way again. Also the Cub Scouts enjoy Akela Campout weekend and a day with the American Legion Sponsoring Saturday events with a free lunch. Popcorn orders are given out to sale popcorn to earn money for your Pack.
Events Discription: Akela Campout is also another camp out overnight in a tent. On Saturday the American Legion set up events and Ribbons and Trophies are awarded to the scouts after lunch and then other events are set up for cub scouts to participate in and earn Ribbons.
October--Weekly meetings, popcorn orders are to be turned in to your Cubmaster and in October Cub Scouts will enjoy a Raingutter Regatta District event.
Events Discription: The Raingutter Regatta is an event where a cub scout makes a boat from a kit and participates with other cub scouts by blowing the sail on the boat down a 10 foot gutter and each pack's top three winners will receive a medal and the three top finishers in each Rank will receive a trophy.
November--Weekly meetings, popcorn to be delivered, and Scouting for food. Also a try at the SPACE DERBY EVENT.
Events Discription: The Space Derby is an event where a cub scout makes a rocket from a kit and participates with other cub scouts by cranking rubber bands inside the rocket and once released they willl travel a 40 foot fishing line to the finish line and each pack's top three winners will receive a medal and the three top finishers in overall will receive a trophy
December--Weekly meetings and some Packs may do a Christmas Party for their Pack.
